Taken Wars

First there was Taken. Liam Neeson has a certain set of skills and he's going to use them to get his daughter back.

Then there was Taken 2. Where Liam Neeson is the one who gets took.

Now, Taken 3. Where again, someone is taken.

Rhett and I decided the trilogy by Luc Besson couldn't end there.

Taken 28: Who's Diaper is This?
Taken 29: Liam Neeson Promotes Depends for Men

Yeah, this won't get old.

Chips and Chats

Elsa Cat is shooting a :30 :60 :90 spot for our company today, and as the Nosey Nellie I am, I wanted to go over and check it out. Before doing so, it was lunchtime and I asked Neavesy if she wanted to hit up Chuy's.
"Sure, I guess. I've never been."
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA?!?!?!?!?!
How is this possible? A Texas native who had not been to Chuy's?
I.
Was.
Floored.

Off we went. Chips were had. Jalapeno ranch was dipped. Tacos devoured. (No alcoholic beverages were consumed.)
Here is the range of topics we discussed in the space of an hour:

Oscars: nominations, movies, best pictures, what we need to see (Selma, American Soldier, Theory of Everything), most won awards and Disney
EGOTS
Whoppi Goldberg
Audrey Hepburn
Lewis CK
Black Jeopardy
Everything is Awesome
Lego movie not being made of legos

The conversation had a great cadence which continued on to the shoot where we met up with Elsa Cat and talked for two hours. I'm loving my team.

(I texted KelBel and PinTrish a photo of the chips and dips, just to rub it in their faces. They weren't too amused.)

Haunted High School Quotes

Let's not blow this. Get back on the horse.
What if I blow it? We'll give you a push big boy!
So what do you guys do for fun? I've had enough practice for one day.
What the hell was that? FrankenFrogs.
We are way, way deeper than that, man. Don't let me needle you.
That much ectoplasmic activity could be the answer for earthquakes!
You're setting yourself up for Polterbush!
(hubs says: they feed on fear. I'd say, 'bitch, you need to see a dermatologist.')
Okay, I gotta destroy the rings. Do I need to put them in a volcano or something?
(hubs says: where's Frodo when you need him?)
Times up bitch! Times up! Acid is a bad trip.
Can Whitney Doulas please report to the morgue.

Omg this movie is craptastic.

Coffee and Such

On Monday, all I cared about was the weather.
I'm sick of these triple degree heat days.

On Tuesday, I wanted to run away from Dallas on a jet plane.

The hand sanitizer is ever present after watching Contagion.

Today's last resort is to hope that I'm secretly a witch with magical powers and can perform Aquamendi.

Apparently my Barrista hasn't read Harry Potter.
Harminey Granger: You sing a C and I'll take 1/3 above that, m'kay?

In other news, I finally dropped a Facebook "Friend" and feel pretty good about that decision.
Not because of their postings or anything,  it was just terribly hypocritical to say they are my "friend" when I don't really give a flying rats patootie about them.

On Horses, Guns and Arnold. Not Related.

Debating with the Hubster about the Equestrian portion of the Olympics. Does the rider just train, hold the reigns and guide? Is that as athletic as a runner? Does it require the skill and finesse of a diver? Shouldn't the pony get the gold, they do all the work?

If I had more energy, I would research all this. But I'm still exhausted from the ridiculous two hour boot camp yesterday morning. Oh Amazon Amy, you are so evil.

We went to the range with Brad and Devo, I spent 20 minutes before I had to get out of there. The heat was too much. It was crowded (Church of Shooting is pretty popular on Sunday morning.) And someone was firing a cannon.

Now I have a hankering to watch the original Total Recall but I can't find it on Fios.

Sleepy. Weird week

Tiny Bubbles... And Nekkid Bums... Make Me Happy... And I Have Lotsa Fun

I've been wanting to go see "Magic Mike" for a little while, so I talked Trish the Dish and Adame to go with me on a three-way date.

Adame demanded we get alcohol so we could be nice and silly in the theater (especially as one of two guys in there, he needed the drink) and it didn't take much to convince Trish. She brought her superdooper movie purse that can hold a pocketbook, umbrella, ham radio and a small elephant.

Off we went to Central Market to load up on supplies before hitting Cinemark. I went to the wine/beer section and starting looking around for something portable. The friendly wine guy came over and asked if I needed help... Why yes sir, I do!

Explaining the situation, he brought me over to a display of Sofia Sparkling Wines.
http://www.franciscoppolawinery.com/wine/sofia/mini
Available in a handy pink box for travel, it includes four 187 milliliter cans... with bendy straws included! I don't think this is what Sofia Sparkling Wines had in mind for word-of-mouth marketing... but it worked!

It's as if Sofia Coppola understands the need for a wino on the go!

Obvs from the above picture, I bought it (I think it was around $15). We got to the theater a little early and decided to have a pre-movie party.
What you can't see here is that there are cut out "bubbles" along the side that make perfect hand-holds for the drink. Think "Bowling Ball" full of sparkling wine goodness.
Cute little can, Looks like a mini coke. See the bendy straw attached to the side?
You can see T's ear in the picture. I'd like to note that we were parked and not driving.
All there is left to do is try it out.
Pre-bendy straw bend. I took a sip.
Mmm. Tasty!
Not Perrier Jouet tasty, but not that bad. Better than Andre for sure. And portable!

It was a fun night. The movie was good, surprising development of character.
Well that, and nekkid bums.

How was In-n-out?

Very good. Soda was off, like the bladder of syrup was getting lean.
Other than that, the fries cried you weren’t there.

I’d totally take a poll on best fries and In-N-Out wouldn’t be in the top 5. They are the sad little fries who get high-jacked at point-of-purchase but aren’t really wanted by anyone. Even Liam Neeson wouldn’t want those fries.

Wait wait wait… they’re making a Taken 2?!
How many times can his daughter be THAT stupid and get kidnapped to become an Arabian slave?

The trailer is online. It’s the wife that gets taken, by the relatives of all the dudes he killed in France.

Maybe in Taken 3 they’ll bump into the Griswolds

Attack of the Killer Iceboxes

(I invited a bunch of people I think are awesome to come brainstorm with my on an upcoming Marketing idea for work. This is the email response I received from an Operation Dude downstairs. He has clearly won the right to be included in all future brainstorming.)

Sorry I wish I had the time, but I simply can’t even get the stuff I should get done now.

Plus my mind is simply taken over by ideas I have of fake PSAs about keeping our office fridges clean.

Or fake movie trailers:

• A romantic drama period piece about an office girl expecting to find a horrible fridge that has been cleaned out and her quest to find who did it.
(G Comment: I would call it "Fridges of Madison County".)

• A Jerry Bruckheimer type movie about the coming catastrophe of an office fridge whose reaching saturation, “no return, tipping point” levels of filth, threatening an entire floor, and the bold few who try to bring an end to the impending doom.
(G Comment: Perhaps "On Frosty Ground" or "Meltdown: This Time It's Personal!".)

• A good old fashioned horror story of a fridge that comes alive after the year long, molded organisms mutate.
(G Comment: Here I think you should just stay classic and go with "MOLD!")

• A fridge with a Liam Neeson accent that systematically hunts down those who spill sweet and sour sauce in its drawer and shelves and doesn’t clean up after it.
(G Comment: Wanted to go with "Gangs of New Pork" but that sounds like an adult flick. Surprisingly, "Schlinder's List" could still work...)

B is for Beatrice and Bums

Last time I was Buffy... today I felt like a Beatrice at Starbucks. Maybe next week I'll be Belinda or Barbara. Taking requests!

I decided to flip my Hawaiian Menehune around so you could see his cute little bum. I think he must be working out, because the dude is rocking a white 'stache but his glutes are Channing Tatum hard.

Speaking of Channing Tatum, I kind of want to see 'Magic Mike' but don't want to go to a theater with a bunch of screaming women. Have to wait for the DVD.

Bueno-burg Makes Her Theatrical Debut

BARBARA

Corporate Flexible Payroll, Barbara speaking. Just a moment. (Repeats that over and over)

Bueno comes up to Adame. Has a mug of coffee in hand, blue shirt and red suspenders. Yellow spotted tie. Bad 80s glasses)

BUENO

Hello, Adame. What's happening? Uh… we have sort of a problem here. Yeah. You appar-ently didn't put one of the new coversheets on your SFDC reports.

ADAME

Oh, yeah. I'm sorry about that. I, I forgot.

BUENO

Yeah. If you could just go ahead and make sure you do that from now on, that will be great. And Uh, I'll go ahead and make sure you get another copy of that memo. Mmmm, Ok?

She walks away.

Channelling My Inner Stefon

New York’s hottest club is Unconditional Love. Don’t be thrown off when you’re greeted by a sequined singer that looks like drunk, skinny Santa. You’re in the right place.

Director, P.J. Hogan, has thought of everything. Rupert Everett crawling through bushes. Serial killing window washers. Julie Andrews. Midgets in red raincoats. Jerry Springer endings. Whistling Barry Manilow tunes…
Go in expecting nothing and be pleasantly entertained.

If that's not worthy of a blog, I don't know what is

(Watching a movie with Hubs: What's Your Number)

Set up: Bunch of women sitting around a table, taking shots, talking about how many men they've slept with. The main character vows not to have sex with another man. Cuts away to next scene where she is in bed asleep. A hand rolls on top of her. The gut is wearing a jacket and shirt, appears to be fully dressed.

Hubs: Well, apparently that didn't pan out.
Me: Hold the phone, he's wearing his clothes.
Hubs: So?
Me: Well they didn't have sex if he's passed out wearing his clothes.

We see that the guy is not wearing his pants or underwear, complete ass shot with his nuts plastered on the sheet.

Me: Oh.
Hubs: Yeah.
Me: I guess they did

Le sigh

Thwarted weekend as we spent time at the ER for a migraine, cleaning the house of clutter, missing wedding rings and the like. Only good output is watching Statham in The Expendables and reminiscing on Mickey Rourke circa 1985.
But the big ten year anniversary is on the 11th, with a fun weekend in store.
So there is that.

Fashion File

To our left we have ever-so-lovely Trish the Dish; modeling a John Paul Richard cape and leather fascinator*, she is ready for both work AND home.

Paying off this heart-shaped pendant. One of my own personal recommendations, is this absolutely stunning, matching necklace and earring set. The earrings measuring just over a centimeter in genuine diamante with two pairs in lapis lazuli, in a lovely mock-gold finish. The exact replica of those worn at Wimbledon by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent.

* We learned this word after the ridiculousness at the Royal Wedding of Will & Kate, remember?
